Aladin is a decent film – not great, but not as bad as some people seem to be gleefully making it out to be.

...it's a worthy watch, especially for the kids. It's also a rare reminder that you can have good, clean fun at the movies.

The special effects are good but you’ve seen better. If anything, Aladin makes a case for better scripts in our movies.

This VFX filled entertainer is just the right recipe if one is looking for a family entertainer.

What Ghosh dishes out in its place is some half-hearted hocus-pocus, a clumsy mix of old world lore with contemporary indifference, sloppy trips to the flashback and awkward bursts of forced sentimentality.

Ghosh's setting is neither magical enough for a fantasy nor identifiable enough to be real. It’s too confusing for kids and adults alike. Except for a few laugh early on and Bachchan’s stand out act, Aladin is another addition to Bollywood’s failed attempts at fantasy.

Avoid this version and watch the delightful Disney version instead.

Sujoy Ghosh's Aladin promises the moon, but what you get is a mere flicker.

Sujoy Ghosh may have had an ambitious plot - a SFX-laden fantasy like this needs a big scale, which it has - but his treatment bores you to death.

Sandwiched in between is a boring love story of the shy Aladin (Ritesh), and Jasmine (Jacqueline, who fills in well as the smiling wallpaper). Aladin, like Drona and Love Story 2039, is ambition gone awry.

The movie may be a visual treat but lacks soul. A poor fare.
