Hum Tum Aur Ghost

Post interval, the film plunges as the plot goes haywire. Chief among them being the length of the film.

Medical science and the super-natural power of seeing dead people are mixed. This would have been fine if the light vein didn’t mix so abruptly but with the overflow of sentiments. Ultimately we are left with a dissatisfactory resolution which seems unintentional.

Arshad gets it right. The rest just don’t get the point.They see dead people.We see a dead film.

...all we are left with are a few sequences of fun, followed by long-drawn drama.

Arshad Warsi’s debut as a writer is so ‘lifeless’ in Hum Tum aur Ghost that even his ‘spirited’ performance isn’t able to save the dead slow film from dying a slow death.

...muddled script, which veers between rom-com, drama and high emotion, in the most meandering way possible.

Director Kabeer Kaushik was entrusted with a great idea, but his team of writers blew it up into smithereens. The impact generated by a few worthy of note sequences gets evaporated as the film reaches its culmination, primarily because the writing doesn't hold.

The premise of the film has its heart in the right place. But the script doesn't evolve from one scene to the other.

...suffers primarily on account of its inconsistent tone. The film might have worked as an irreverent comedy, but much of it is treated as an emotional drama...

Sure there is a twist ending, but we wonder if it could’ve been a bit more intelligent and little less like the clichéd seventies’ ‘lost and found’ theme.

Admittedly a few witty dialogues combined with Warsi’s mumbling delivery style do crack you up – but that’s hardly a cause to spend two hours plus on an otherwise convoluted picture.

Playing a girl-magnet, designer-wear, slick hair NRI hero in an artificial, romantic setup, just pales his coolness no end.

An actor is only as good as his director is an old adage, while a movie is only as entertaining as its story. Both these maxims are proved fully true in Hum, Tum aur Ghost...

The film is so boring that it threatens to put you to sleep.

The thing with films where leading men can see ghosts is that they need to be completely original. 'Hum Tum Aur Ghost' smacks a little of 'Ghost' , a little of 'The Sixth Sense' : the rest of it feels cobbled-together...

...a ghostly story with no spirit.
