Mittal V/S Mittal

Predictable, but it does touch upon an important issue and brings out the predicament of a woman who is a victim of marital rape.

...is relevant, but is bogged down by mediocrity.

...instead of making you feel sorry about the state of women even after they marry the ones they love, the film leaves you restless and wanting the ordeal to be over with.

Well-intentioned, yes, but too straight, too talkative and too flag-waving...

In the past, director Karan Razdan has been 'credited' with directing films like Hawas, Girlfriend and Souten. Titillation is a common factor amongst each of these films and the sensibilities/treatment pretty much get carried forward to Mittal V/S Mittal as well.

There have been many films made on rape and sexual violence. Most of them hope that depiction of violence will help to titillate the audience. Mittal Vs Mittal also sets out with this objective but the audience is more likely to get repulsed than titillated.

I know the makers of this film. I know legalising genuine pornography in this country will find them a more legit job in the business. About time we did.
