...a fascinating love story, has an angle of religion and a world-shaking incident as a backdrop. It not only entertains, but also mesmerises, enthrals and captivates the viewer in those 2.40 hours.

...works because it's an uplifting tale of an underdog told in an entertaining manner. There's also that element of freshness in the film also his choice of actors...

At the end of 18 reels, you do carry something precious home – SRK and Kajol. They are absolutely electric. Undoubtely, they don’t make’em like that anymore. And never will, which is why MNIK is absolutely compulsory viewing. You may have problems with it. Yet it is a must-must-see.

But the real bravery award should go to director-producer Karan Johar, who dispenses with the designer preciousness of his previous films to come as close as this to something real, something important.

To say MNIK is a warm-the-cockles film about a man with Aspergers syndrome who overcomes all odds and triumphs would be to pigeonhole it. The movie has a larger picture-one of humanity, tolerance,redemption and above all love.

Karan has shown great courage in choosing a topic which was not his forte but he has come out with a winning product, no two opinions about that.

Karan Johar proves he’s set on doing films after his heart. Viewers who turn down thinking films saying they prefer the 'Karan Johar brand of cinema' may well revise their definition.

Karan Johar succeeds is in making Shah Rukh Khan underplay his character like never before and mellow down the human drama with as much positivity that a film with a backdrop as intense as 9/11 ends up being feel-good with an optimistic outlook.

Is this a movie one should watch? Yes, I think so. Not because of its message, that anyone with a pure heart can achieve what he wants, even if it is to meet the President of America, but because of Shah Rukh.

...here is one straight from the heart. It has a message, in these days of tensions over language and religion, one which needs to be heard. Go watch.

The film shamelessly tugs at your heartstrings and on more than one occasion wallops you to weep. Aided by solid camerawork, tight editing and a layered story, Johar crafts an engaging, stirring saga that is earnest and noble. With this message movie in the mainstream format, the director takes a step in the right direction.

Karan Johar's finally made his first grown-up film, and made it well. It could have been the stuff of much more, but let us leave that for another day. This is a film that will inspire, make aware, make happy.

A beautiful movie with a beautiful message not to forget powerful performances...

What primarily doesn't work for me here is the man behind Khan. SRK delivers an inconsistent, half-convincing performance, which is a tricky mix of laboured, strained and spontaneous.

...never becomes the empowering, inspiring Forest Gump-like epic. Mainly because the connective tissue tying it together is deeply flawed and in places, embarrassingly naive.

C’mon KJo, let’s have a sappy romantic comedy – melodrama, music, family values et al – next. Others can worry about social issues.

A commercially successful, massively scaled mainstream film that doesn’t just make a song and dance of it all could certainly change Bollywood forever. Of all, I’m glad Johar also made that move.

One of the important films of Hindi cinema. Although it messes up its length, there are some touching scenes not to be missed. My Name is Khan has many messages and not just an 'Autism Alert' and 'Terror Alert'.

The constraint is really appreciated both in terms of Karan Johar's direction and Shah Rukh Khan's performance. But unfortunately, in the last hour the movie leaves the US and enters K-Jo-land. And in both worlds Kajol intolerably shrieks her way through.
