Right Yaaa Wrong

...a powerful thriller, with a knockout second half.

But more than the story, it's the performances that add meat to this small little film which comes unnoticed.

An engaging story is told using a number of clever twists. The intelligent outwitting however is let down by some awful performances and a rather slowed-down pace.

Director Neerraj Pathak manages to create an edge-of-the-seat drama. You could guess the murderer, but the police takes its time to do that. The lead up to that and the court room drama makes for an interesting watch. However, the end is a tad disappointing.

If you can look past a few out-of-focus shots, shoddy love making scenes and lack of foot-tapping music, this one’s actually got the brain to impress the average commercial film audience.

Although the movie preaches a little bit it does keep you entertained and engrossed.

The supposed suspense in the first half is as lame as its protagonist with a perceptible double-cross at the interval point. The identity of the killer is revealed to the viewer soon after and with nothing left to your imagination, the genre changes from suspense-thriller to courtroom-drama.

The trouble with 'Right Yaa Wrong' is that it’s not tight enough, getting derailed when the little boy comes on for his I-love-my-papa scenes, and other extraneous stuff.

Cleverly plotted and never revealing all its cards at once, the film is a smart thriller. And yet the director fails to deliver a tight, slick Bollywood entertainer on the lines of those Abbas-Mustan whodunits, because his treatment's so archaic.

Even with its dowdiness and disturbingly half-baked logic that finally resolves its central moral conflict, Right Yaa Wrong is still surprisingly watchable, because the film mercifully sticks to its real point without digressing much.

We already know who did what, and why. We just twiddle our thumbs through what’s Right Ya Wrong. It’s just trite and long.
